My Home

For me, home means family. My mom, my dad, my puppy, Kootany, my brother, my sister, my grandmother, and all my other family members in Vancouver, Kelowna, Castlegar and more. Home means happiness. When I lay back in my bed after a long day. When I play my violin for my grandmother in her room. When my dog and I play fetch together. When I eat my dad's super cheezy mac and cheese. Home means being cozy. When I drink my mom’s tasty hot chocolate, after playing in the snow. When I curl up in the movie room and watch Harry Potter. When I snuggle with my mom, and we watch funny pet videos. Home means fun. When I get to play with my siblings. When my best friend and I have a playdate. When I help my dad make pancakes for breakfast. Home means safe. The feeling when I walk through the door of my home. When my family and I all watch a movie together. When my mom reads to me before she tucks me in at night. Home means love. The memories I make with my family on vacations. When my family and I play games. At tuck-in, when my brother and I playfight with my dad. Home isn’t just a place. It’s a feeling. It can be a community, or a city, or even a relative’s house. It can even be a person or a pet! As long as you feel and are safe, loved, respected and happy, you are home.
