What Home Means to Me

What home means to me? Hello, I'm Landon and in this essay I will be explaining the difference between a house and a home, the reason why people need homes and how the importance of clean water and good food. I will also talk about what the base of a house and a home are. Please make sure to read all the way through, so that you can get a true understanding of how a house and a home are two different things. So first I will tell you about the difference between a house and a home. A house is a building full of stuff, but a home has more than physical items, as it has love, care and kindness. I don't want people to just have a house, but I want them to have a home where they feel they belong, a safe place where they can feel respected and loved. These are the foundations of a home, just like the cement or wood that is used for the foundation of a house. Homes come with some stuff like pipes and heaters, but sometimes they don't have good water, and as you probably know, water is pretty important to us which is why I think all homes should have good water. Water is life, and I think clean water should be included in every house that is built. Homes have people, and families and sometimes pets living in them, and it would not be good if every time we built a house, it was only a matter of time that they would be washed out or destroyed. That is why I think that we should start to build better bases for all houses. Having a good base allows a family to feel safe. It would be my hope that a house could go through multiple natural phenomena and still be able to be safe to live in. Knowing that there will always be a house to come back to makes life a lot easier on the people living there, just like having a home that is full of love and respect makes life much easier as well, and allows a family to feel much safer. Houses can sometimes cost a lot of money, sometimes even too much for people to afford. And if they find a way to afford it, they might not have enough money left over for things like appliances, furniture, food and clothes. So some families might have to choose between food and water, or heat and shelter. If adults don't have heat, shelter and food then it would be difficult to go to work and make money. If they can get enough money to buy a house and get necessities they need, they might be able to live a comfortable life. So it is easy to see how affordable housing can change a person’s or family's life. If a family does not have the necessities in their house like food and heat it is hard then to feel safe and could cause them to worry a lot. So through these paragraphs, I hope you have learned the difference between a house and a home, and how the foundation of a house and a home is most important to those who live there. Houses need more than just the structure and the inside furnishings, just like a home needs more than just people to live in it. And it is important for all of us to realize that the cost of houses are very high in most communities and towns, which makes them unaffordable to a lot of our friends and their families. Hopefully though, through your organization and other groups, we can work together to help us all make better houses that can then become homes for people and families all across the country.
