What Home Means to Me

What “Home” Means To Me… Home is a place where we grow up, relax, and feel safe. Home is the place we think of when we think of comfort and warmth. What makes a home isn't how big or small it is, but instead how much warmth, love, and family it brings. The most important thing in a family is not the best clothes, nor is it the best food. Instead, home and family is surprisingly simple, all you need is sincere family members that are willing to communicate and talk. Home is not a battlefield, there's no need to fight, for who is right or wrong in an argument. We all have a home, at home, we have those who love us and those we love most. At times, we release negativity to those we love most, and after we say we are sorry, but the damage we create cannot be retracted. Whether your home is big or small, as long as you have family, you have a home. I remember hearing a story, where there was a millionaire. One night his house caught fire while he was intoxicated. Later the neighbors found him and said “your house is on fire, why are you still here?” The millionaire replied saying, “Home was my children and wife. They died from a car crash. I no longer have a home. What's burning is my house, my home is already gone.” After listening to the story I realized houses big or small aren't everything that matters, houses are just like toppings on a cake; the cake is what really matters most, just like family. I am thankful for Habitat for Humanity to give me a chance to write and raise $10 for building a house for someone in need.
