What Home Means to Me

A home is made of many supplies, lots of money, and they take a long time to build. But nothing beats the happiness and love within it. When I think of home, I think of the quote once said by Cecelia Ahren; “Home isn't a place, it's a feeling”. Home is somewhere where you should feel safe and comfortable. A place where people love you for who you are. But, it is also a place where you should love yourself. My home is a place where I always feel comfortable being. I know that even if I have a bad day, my family will always be there to make me happy. Home is your community. You should be able to feel safe happiness and warmth while walking through the streets. A community that makes you feel at home, not left out or lonely. The simplest things, like shoveling for your neighbors, writing them cards, or even just saying hello, makes your community a better place. A home is a place where you can sit down, watch movies, and play games with your family and friends. It is a gathering place. A place where you can feel comfortable going to bed and waking up in the morning. Somewhere that you love and care for. I love when my family and I have nights where we all watch a movie together with popcorn on the couch. Or when we have game nights with all the laughter and fun at our kitchen table. The difference between a house and a home is big. A house is the building you live in. A home is family, friends, love, pictures, memories, and great times. That is what home means to me.
