What Does Home Mean To Me?

A house is a mere building, your family that dwell inside the house is what makes the home. You see, home isn’t a place; home is a feeling, it’s somewhere you feel comfortable, happy, free to be yourself. A place you feel wanted, a place where you go when you feel your worst. Home might not even be your house, it may be your school, a friend's house, somewhere where you feel most appreciated and understood. Your family might not be blood related to you, but they make you feel like yourself. My home consists of me, my mom, my dad, my little sister and 8 pets. I feel lucky to also have family that isn’t blood related, so I feel home at school and at my house. I really appreciate those around me, and I hope other people feel the same way. At my home, we feel loved, appreciated, and included. I’m happy others are fortunate enough to have a home, and family. Home might be a complicated feeling, like a small thought, but with so much meaning. You know when you’ve found it even if you can’t explain it. I wish everyone had a home, a place where they didn’t feel alone, a place where they feel appreciated. No matter their religion, race, or gender. That's why I wrote this essay, to give people the chance to feel at home.
