What Home Means To Me

Home means a warm heart. Home means a nourished soul. Home means to grow, to play, to adventure. Home means a loving family who accepts you for who you are. Home means a supportive environment where you can explore. Home means feeling safe and comforted by those around you. When I think of my home as a whole, it feels like a movie night with my family, and the buttery popcorn scent filling the room. I think of my affectionate dog, curled up beside me. I think of cooking and baking alongside my hilarious Dad. I think of sewing and crafting with my creative Mom. I think of talking and laughing deep into the night with my mischievous brother. The smell of my dad’s homemade pasta and my mom’s noodles fills the house. The feel of my dog’s curly locks as I run my fingers through his soft fur. The sight of framed family pictures hanging on the walls. The noise of my family laughing and my dog barking. The taste of my parent’s tasty baked goods. This is what my home is like. Home feels like a little ember inside my heart that grows every day I spend with my family. Warmth and love feeding it until it grows into a full flame of joy. It doesn’t matter if your home is big or small, high or low. If it’s brick or wood, modern or old. Whether it’s an apartment or a house, a countryside cottage or a busy city condo. Everyone should have a place that they call home.
