The Meaning of Home

The Meaning of
Home
By Mikaela Leung

To me, “home” is a place where you live in complete safety and comfort. Being in your home makes you feel relaxed and happy. It makes us feel relieved because you are safe from some dangers of the outside world. Without a home you will feel scared, alone and will be unsafe with nowhere to live in. Like what Dorothy said in the Wizard of Oz, there is no place like home.

Our homes are our sanctuaries. It is where you can live in peace and harmony and pour out your feelings. Most people share homes with their families. A home could be anything. It could be a house, an apartment, a basement, etc. These are examples on why each and every home is special. In a home, you can feel sad, angry or confused and your family could help cheer you up. Homes are a very nice sanctuary indeed.

A home usually has many special features and also has something or somewhere important to you. Most of the features can be just luxurious but others are almost must-haves. Some of these features are fun and/or exciting. This includes your TV, your computer, your toys, etc. When a home has something/somewhere special to you, it can be anything. It can be calming, make you happy, fun and/or useful. You can share how important it is to you with your parents or friends.

I feel fortunate to have a proper and safe home. A lot of people people around the world either don’t have proper homes or are homeless. A few times
I saw a few homeless people in Toronto and it made me feel bad about people having to live such a harsh life. I also think that we should help people get homes that are safe and comfortable. Everyone deserves to get a place where you can live safely.

Overall, I think this is what the meaning of home is. I really hope what I wrote about is correct because I don’t know what else it would be. We need somewhere to live safely anyway. I hope the meaning of home won’t change in the future. This concludes my essay.
