The Meaning of Home

What Homes Mean

“A house is built of wood and stone but only love can make a home.” In your house or abode, flat topped or with a dome, your home should lighten your emotional load. Some people feel at home wandering, reading on a couch or complaining. But wherever our home is that is where we should be. Yet out there, whether we feel like acknowledging it or not, there are people living on the streets, people living in unsafe conditions looking beat. I feel sorry for them, I really do,with nothing but lima beans to eat and chew. Some people can’t even stop in one place long enough to call it a home. They’re probably not very happy having to roam. So that’s why I wrote this poem. It’s for those without a home.
