The Meaning of Home

By: Ashley Neary

What is in my home? Happiness, laughter, safety, love, good food, clean water, family and friends? All of it. What is in your home? What is in their home? Not everyone has a safe, warm, and affordable haven. But we can help all those 735,000 homeless children by building them not only a shelter, but a place where they are happy, loved and cared for.

My home is warm, safe and comfortable.
It is a place where I am loved and accepted for who I am.
I am happy there where it is full of laughter.
I am always overjoyed to return after a long journey.
My home is a resting place where I can relax and lay down my heavy burdens.
I continue to learn there, and can share my thoughts and ideas.
I can eat until I cannot eat anymore.
I can drink until I am an ocean.
I am clean, yet I can get down and dirty.
At my home, I can have fun.
At my home, I can make mistakes.
At my home, my family’s and I make great memories daily.

A house is just four walls and a roof, but a home is so much more. I hope that everyone has a home just like mine, and if not, I will help to make it so.
