The meaning of home

The Meaning of Home

By Erin Cousins

Anyone can live in a house
But it takes more to be a home
Just having a shelter
Is not the meaning of home

Home is where I’m safe
It is where I eat and play
It is where I read and sleep
And where I spend my day

The love of my family
Makes a house a home
And I’m sometimes sad
Even in my home

But knowing how much fear
Other people have to face
Makes my problems seem so small
My home feel like the best place!

My wish for everyone
Is to feel safe, warm and dry
To have enough to eat and drink
And never have to cry

I know that I’m a lucky kid
Because I have so much stuff
If we all join together and help
Others won’t have it so tough
