The Meaning of Home

Hearts Build a Home

“It takes hands to build a house, but only hearts can build a home.” Have you ever heard that quote before? To me it means home is where you can do what you want. Do you know what the meaning of home is? Well I’ll tell you. A home is where memories and laughter happen and, a house is a shelter. A place where you can build a home.
If you walk by my house you might think it looks like the rest. But, when you open my front door you’ll see what makes it a home. My home is special because of the memories we have made; birthdays, dinners and holidays. My family had the house for 5 years now. My grandparent’s moved in with us so we needed a bigger house. We also moved from Toronto when I was 2 or 3. I don’t remember the house but I do remember the family we left behind and I miss them.
Moving was scary but also very exciting because now I have my own room. The house didn’t feel like a home at first. But, we finally unpacked and put the beds in the rooms. That time I did not have a bed or a room but for my birthday I got one. It was a twin bed. On Christmas me and my family got presents for each other. It was awesome, but sometimes sad. I love my family there amazing. We’re like a huge roll of tape that sticks together that will never unwrap.
“It takes hands to build a house but only hearts can build a home.” Home is there hardest thing to describe. Its not just words, its not just memories, it’s a feeling you get in your stomach.
