The Meaning of Home

As Lizzie looked out her bedroom window she thought, “When will my family ever be able to afford a nice home? What does home even mean?”

At dinner that night she asked her dad, “What is the meaning of home?” Her dad replied:

“Your home can be anywhere, a castle or the street
Not everybody gets a home, it’s a special treat
People all around the world don’t have a home to occupy
Home is not only bricks and walls and Wi-Fi
A home is a place with laughter and dreams
A house is a place with walls and beams
A home is where you can snuggle up in bed
With the soft fluffy covers made of thread.”

As Lizzie went to sleep that night she realized that what her dad had said was true. She had a family who cared about her very much, and she realized that it doesn’t matter what your house looks like, it’s what you have inside your heart that matters most.
