Sonnet to Home Sweet Home

Sonnet to Home Sweet Home

Love filled sanctuary, our home sweet home,
Joy filled retreat, where our aspirations groom.

All living creatures need their oasis,
Moist soil for plants, oceans for lively fishes;
Grassland for horses to run freely,
Forest for animals to live happily.

Hear men’s and women’s laughter, children’s singing,
Echoes from brick houses or igloos with ice shining;
Always a place we yearn to rush back to,
Our root is secured there, our home sweet home.

How fortunate to have a place to call home,
Safe haven we take for granted, until…
Images of war shattered houses unveil,
I ask, how can we give each a home sweet home?
