Meaning of Home

An old man on a grimy street
Stomach growling like an animal
Desperate for food and begging for help
Nobody coming to his aid
He has no home

A young girl in a run-down bus stop
Rain pounding down like the shower she never had
The best shelter she could find
She has no home

A ratty teenager at a door.
Begging for something to help.
The door slamming shut in his face
He has no home

A young man pushing through a crowd
Having no respect for the others
Coming home and having fun with his family
Having a hearty dinner
He has a home

Just one wall separates these 2 realities
But someday maybe not
Maybe someday everybody will have shelter
Perhaps one day everybody will be loved
Possibly someday everybody will have a full stomach
Maybe someday everybody will have a home.
